ESOL and Citizenship

Introduction

Since November 1st 2005, applicants for British citizenship (also known as naturalisation) and from April 2007 applicants for settlement have had to meet Home Office requirements for citizenship.  There are two paths to citizenship and which path you take depends on your ESOL level.  The table below explains these.
